Bredesen state educators talk pre-school, technology - Judith R. Tackett, Nashville City Paper

Gov. Phil Bredesen got right to work Tuesday after his State of the State address Monday, holding a roundtable with state educators to talk about his education plan. Two of the main issues he discussed with K-12 educators representing 11 Tennessee school districts were pre-school needs and technology.... Teacher training was also needed when it comes to the use of new technology, said Dr. D. Maxwell from the Jackson Downtown Elementary School District in Memphis. Technology without the capability to use it was a waste, he added. However, more computers would be welcome in most classrooms because students growing up on electronic games and television “need entertainment,” said Andrea Fisher, an East Cheatham Elementary School teacher.
