$22 million tech grant goes to New Orleans school system - Brian Thevenot, Times-Picayune
After three straight years of missing out on tens of millions of dollars in federal technology grants, the New Orleans school system recently obtained more than $22 million from the federal "e-rate" program and is now applying for another grant of at least that much. The recent success is in stark contrast to previous years, when two successive technology chiefs were forced out of the administration after botching grant applications to the generous federal program, which pays for Internet and telecommunications infrastructure.
