School district closer to online studies - Ted Taylor, Bend Bulletin

The Bend-La Pine School District is moving closer to offering students the chance to take "a vast majority" of their high school curriculum online. The district's online charter high school application was deemed "complete" by a district committee last month, meaning it's now up to Bend-La Pine school board members to approve or deny the plan. That decision must wait for the school board to hold public hearings on the proposal, which should be in December. The school board is then expected to vote on it in January. Board members and Superintendent Doug Nelson have already voiced their support for the idea, but its approval isn't a slam dunk.
