Cupertino school cites secret to its top statewide ranking- Larry Slonaker, SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS
To understand how things work at Cupertino's William Faria Elementary -- which last month recorded the top score in statewide school rankings for the second time in three years -- peek inside any classroom. Try the kindergartners' computer lab, where teacher Iman Elrefaie is explaining how to do an exercise. "You can pick a level," she says. "Pick 'easy' or 'difficult.'" A boy, his hair thick and uniform as the bristles on a toothbrush, pipes up: "Can you pick 'impossible?'"
