Online learning is considered - CATHRYN GRAN, Elmwood Park Pioneer Press
In a report to the District 401 School Board Oct. 15, Superintendent Frank McKinzie outlined an online alternative for students lacking sufficient credits to graduate. According to McKinzie, the alternative program would be open to juniors and seniors who would have 24-hour access to the courses and would be able to work at their own pace. About 60 courses are available. On-line instructional help also would be available, but only part of the day.... "This would help the district get up the graduation rate, which is part of the No Child Left Behind Act," McKinzie said, adding that about 70 percent of students who use the alternative program finish it.
