University of California College Prep Initiative Expands
For the fifth consecutive year, qualifying California high schools will have access to online courses and classroom resources from Apex Learning, as the result of a recently signed agreement between the company and the University of California College Prep Initiative (UCCP). Initiated by University of California Santa Cruz Vice Chancellor Francisco J. Hernandez in the fall of 1998, UCCP provides online college preparatory and academic support to high school students who otherwise would not have the opportunity to achieve eligibility or competitive eligibility for admission to the University of California and other top universities. "During our four years of offering Apex Learning's online educational resources to California students, we have seen high levels of success which demonstrates to us that these products are of the highest quality and support UCCP's mission," said Vice Chancellor Hernandez. "We look forward to another year of partnering with Apex to ensure that our students have access to the educational experiences that they need to prepare for college." Under the terms of the 2003-2004 school year agreement, California students will have access Apex Learning's online Advanced Placement(a) (AP)(a) courses and selected general studies courses.
