Two Montreal schools are using technology in innovative ways to help teach the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic - ANDY RIGA , The Gazette

When he's at home studying, Joey Rothstein, 13, pores over textbooks and notes, then heads back to Bialik High School using a computer. He logs on to the private school's online community to pick up assignments, ask classmates nagging questions about class work, and attend tutorials with teachers, sometimes the night before exams. Over at Coronation School, in one of the poorest parts of the city, Grade 5 and 6 students learn the ins and outs of technology and media, even as they sharpen reading, writing and math skills.
