Students visit zoo on virtual field trip - Dan Kittle, Lansing State Journal

She has heard the stories from her parents her whole life - tales of swimming and fishing alongside manatees in Florida, of being so close to the 1,000-pound mammals that they could almost touch them. On Tuesday, first-grader Bonnie Jo Menovske got a chance to see what her parents experienced. Along with 40 other first-graders at E.E. Knight Elementary, she sat captivated in the school's gymnasium as life-size images of the animals from the Columbus Zoo floated across the wall.
