Fairfax County Public Schools 24-7 Learning Wins E-Gov Pioneer Award
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) 24-7 Learning, an online resource that enables students, parents, and teachers to extend learning beyond the traditional school day and school walls, announced that it will receive an E-Gov Pioneer Award today. The fifth annual E-Gov Awards recognize solutions for improving electronic government delivery and exemplary achievements in E-Government and education service delivery. FCPS 24-7 Learning uses the Blackboard Learning System(TM) and the Blackboard Portal System(TM) as an online instruction and collaboration platform. Teachers at all grade levels in Fairfax County Public Schools have used Blackboard for a variety of purposes including delivering course materials to students and parents, posting news and information for parents, holding class discussions online, managing and responding to student assignments, and organizing web-based curricular materials. In addition to supplementing face-to-face instruction with web-based resources and activities, the FCPS 24-7 platform is also used to deliver 17 fully online courses through the FCPS Online Campus.
