Online Testing in the K-12 Sector Grows Out of Necessity - Ben Macklin, emarketer

The No Child Left Behind Act 2001, signed into law in the US by President Bush in 2002 requires educators to test all third through eighth graders in reading and mathematics annually. The new legislative requirements have set schools scrambling to find more efficient ways to assess academic skills and get children ready for state exams, so many are experimenting with new ways of using technology to assist them. This by-the-numbers approach to education has yielded an opening for e-learning to ease test administration and grading as well as drive the use of automated diagnostic tools, customized tutoring, test preparation aids and more.
