Senator Cornyn Announces Distance Learning Grant for East Texas Schools and Teachers - Tyler Morning Telegraph
U.S. Sen. John Cornyn announced Tuesday $6.8 million would go to improve rural education in East Texas through wireless distance learning services. Dallas-based Internet Broad-cast Corp. has been awarded the government loan and will work with schools and colleges to provide distance learning content with Supernet and NETnet, Cornyn's announcement said. IBC is to provide free broadband wireless services that will enable students and teachers to access educational resources via computers from their homes and provide computers for students to check out. "It is very exciting to see this technology coming to help students and teachers in rural East Texas," Cornyn said.
