Virtual high school 'awesome' - Pamela Davenport, Ironwood Daily Globe

In a program that Linda Smith, teacher at A.D. Johnston High School, describes as "awesome," Bessemer students have a chance to learn about everything from the depths of the ocean to outer space. In fact, three students have been doing just that. Aimee Walls and James Tauer took courses in oceanography during the first semester; John Abramson studied "Human Space Exploration. The classes are part of the Michigan Virtual High School. Bessemer School District pays $1,700 for 60 MVHS "seats" that would cost about $400 each, according to Superintendent Clay Hufnagel. The program is "a bargain," he said.
