Program making teachers tech-savvy - EMILY M. SHAFER
Under the Dwight D. Eisenhower Grant Professional Development Program, the college is providing several teachers in the county with Dell laptop computers and technology training... The program also provides enrichment activities and mentoring support for teachers in the core content standards of science and math and a learning environment where teachers can develop their own practicum project with a team of trained mentors. According to Dr. Eveline Armstrong, the director of the Professional Development Program, the grant is something that the county needs. "The local teachers are helping each other," Armstrong said. "Teachers in the districts are trained to be mentors, then they train new teachers and other teachers who may need it."
