Getting Students Involved in Their Communities - Rosemary Shaw, techLearning

...We had been talking about giving back to the community, and community service projects, and one of the students held up his hand, and said, "Why don't we do something to protect our watershed for our community service project?" In the end, the students decided to create a Web page and host a contest to collect socks. To begin the project, the students had to research watersheds, water management, water quality and water conservation. They did most of their research online, and then created Web pages about the information they found. The students learned HTML 4.0 to create the Web pages and took photographs using a digital camera. They also created an online survey and an online quiz to go with the Web page.
