Digital Classrooms: An Inside Look At A Home School That Made It Work For Its Students

Although home schooling had grown in surprisingly large numbers, Sandy Kahealani was at a quandary of self-doubt and frustration in 1999 when she decided to implement a home curriculum for her three children, Chas-Beau, Kiley-Scot, and Genevieve. There were resources available, indeed, but her earliest problem did not involve purchasing student text books, typing syllabuses or even preparing individualized elementary and middle school lectures in math, science, social studies, and language arts. The main problem for her Satori Dharma Home School Hawaii (SDHS) program was efficiently integrating Internet resources and computer skills into a curriculum that could keep her students technologically motivated while supporting their core studies....
