As it begins its second full year of operation, the Illinois Virtual High School, which offers online classes to highly motivated students, is tripling in size with the infusion of hundreds of new Chicago Public Schools students. After settling into a successful niche in its first year by offering courses to students in far-flung high schools, the influx of new students poses formidable challenges that could dramatically change the way the online classes are taught....
