Online schools earn mixed grade in Ohio

Thousands of Ohio students will begin classes this fall without ever leaving their dens, basements or bedrooms. Cyberschools - schools that give students a computer, printer, scanner and Internet-based course work supervised by certified teachers - are the fastest-growing segment of the state's burgeoning charter school ranks. Like other charter schools, cyberschools are publicly financed and privately operated - some are run by for-profit entrepreneurs - and are free from many regulations. But virtual learning in Ohio has not been without glitches....
