The new Gateway 200 laptop is sleek, slim and capable -- a fine piece of hardware to take on a trip for a day or a week. It's also a vivid demonstration of one of the PC market's most deep-seated problems. The Gateway 200 has the numbers to make an excellent second computer. It weighs barely over three pounds but packs a 12.1-inch screen into its compact dimensions (10 3/4 by 9 1/4 inches, and less than an inch thick). Those thin confines leave no room for any optical drive, so Gateway includes an external CD-RW in a docking base -- more on that in a bit....
