IBM PC -- 25 years later! - Kevin Maney, USA Today
Wow. 25 years! My old pals at the IBM Archives -- who helped me a great deal when I researched my book on IBM builder Thomas Watson Sr. -- just tipped me off to a new section they created on IBM's Web site to celebrate the 25th birthday of the IBM PC in August 1981. Certainly it was one of the most important product introductions in information technology history. IBM's PC wasn't by any stretch the first PC, but it was the one that finally created a real, legitimate market for personal computing, launching the entire PC and software industries that we know today.
