Hearing on Tiny Technology Attracts Scientists Favoring Big Spending Increases - DAN CARNEVALE, the Chronicle

Technology experts asked Congress on Wednesday to support increased federal exploration into nanotechnology so that university researchers can develop computers and databases that are smaller and faster, and that store more information. The experts, including researchers from academic institutions, government agencies, and private companies, spoke at a hearing of the U.S. House Science Committee. Members are considering a bill, HR 766, that would authorize spending to help the public and private sectors study nanotechnology, which is the engineering of materials at the atomic and molecular levels to create electronics and other devices.
