Code Red Variant Spreads - George V. Hulme, InformationWeek
Symantec Corp. issued a warning Wednesday that a variant to the Code Red II virus is infecting vulnerable Microsoft Internet Information Services software worldwide. The worm, dubbed Code.Red.F, is similar to the Code Red worm that infected hundreds of thousands of servers around the globe in July 2001 and marked the beginning of a new generation of malicious code, the "blended threat," that uses multiple methods to infect systems and spread mayhem.
