Grid, Computing On Demand: Time To Put Up Or Shut Up - Mary Johnston Turner, Internet Week
The major computer systems vendors are promoting virtualization, on-demand utilities, and grid computing as the next “big wave” in computing. Some, such as Sun Microsystems chief Scott McNealy, opine that these technologies collectively are going to be as big as the Internet itself. They promise astounding returns on investment (ROI) and dramatic improvements in the ability of IT to serve the needs of the business.
