CES witnesses rollout of 802.11g products - Matthew Miller, CommVerge

At last week's CES show in Las Vegas, the rollout of 802.11g wireless-LAN products begin in earnest. The 802.11g specification, which offers a top speed of 54 Mbits/sec while operating in the same 2.4-GHz frequency space as 802.11b, is officially still in the draft stage. But that didn't stop several vendors from introducing new product lines tagged with happy new marketing names such as Wireless-G, 54g, and Xtreme G.
