...But the bubble has burst. State budgets are being slashed, private university endowments have taken a hit, investors are disoriented, and the news for technology leaders and managers on many campuses is a blend of a desperate effort to preserve the status quo. At the same time, CIOs are undergoing some significant soul-searching as to how to affect what comes next. Strategic retreat in a moment of crisis can be valuable if we engage in a deliberate conversation on what our goals should be and what opportunities lie ahead of us.
