Penn State University researchers working on an alternative to LED (light-emitting diode) use in flat-panel, color displays claim that polymer cells -- like the ones they have produced -- may be the answer. The researchers investigated color-tunable, light-emitting devices and the requirements for organic displays and reported that polymers known as LECs (light-emitting electrochemical cells) may be the basis for the flat displays of the future....
