Cells Light Way for Flat-Panel Displays

The researchers are finding that LECs may be more stable and quicker than LEDs, and they require less energy. Penn State University researchers working on an alternative to LED (light-emitting diode) use in flat-panel, color displays claim that polymer cells -- like the ones they have produced -- may be the answer. The researchers investigated color-tunable, light-emitting devices and the requirements for organic displays and reported that polymers known as LECs (light-emitting electrochemical cells) may be the basis for the flat displays of the future....
