Apple cuts eMac price, adds DVD-burning drive

Apple Computer cut prices and added features to its consumer and professional desktop computers Tuesday, in an effort to boost interest in its products. Most notably, Apple said it is putting a DVD-burning drive in its eMac computer for $1,499. Previously, Apple's lowest price for a DVD-burning computer was $1,799. ``With the fourth quarter coming up, they're looking to grab the consumer's attention,'' said Charles Smulders, analyst for the Gartner/Dataquest research group. ``Having a new eMac which is $1,499 with a Superdrive, that's certainly an intriguing offer for consumers, and i think will attract attention.''...
