IT Spending Flat Through 2002 - Survey

Information technology spending by U.S. businesses will be flat through the end of the year, a survey of IT professionals found earlier this month. Even though the survey results reflected less optimism among IT managers, tech spending will rise 1.5 percent in 2002 as fourth-quarter capital spending picks up, Gartner Inc. analysts predicted. Gartner conducted the survey at a symposium it co-sponsored with Goldman Sachs Group. Nearly nine in 10 of those surveyed believe the global economy will show a modest recovery by the end of the year but 78 percent said they will not change their technology spending plans, no matter what the economy does....
