DVD texts make lukewarm debut at NYU

(U-WIRE) NEW YORK -- One year after the New York University College of Dentistry announced new students would be required to purchase a DVD that replaces all textbooks, students and faculty have received the new technology with mixed feelings. The DVD, known as the Vital Book, contains a student's entire four-year curriculum, including 161 textbooks, course syllabi, handouts, lecture notes, slide presentations, video clips, a clinic manual, internally created material and other reference materials. The material is searchable, giving users the opportunity to research efficiently....
