Web growth slows, but time online rises

U.S. Internet growth continues to slow, but users are logging on more often and spending more time online, a new report says. "Those who want to have access pretty much have it," says Net analyst T.S. Kelly of Nielsen//NetRatings, whose analysis of 2001 Net trends was released Wednesday. Growth in the number of active users (who go online at least once a month) slowed to 6%, down from "the wild double-digit increases of the late 1990s," the report says. More than 174 million people — 55% of U.S. households — now have Internet access at home. But only about 60% of those with access, or just 37% of the U.S. population, actually use the Net in any given month, Kelly says....
