A cure for the "World Wide Wait" is making its way from research applications at UC Berkeley and other institutions to the mainstream. Internet2 is a high-speed network, which links almost 200 research universities and other groups, and serves as a platform for development of new network technologies and as a medium for applications that require fast connections between computers. Aspects of the future development of the commercial Internet may come from work done on Internet2....
