Just wait until 3G arrives. That has been the rallying cry for carriers, developers and industry pundits holding out faster always-on mobile networks as the cure for what ails wireless. "It's finally here," says Ken Hyers, an analyst with Cahners In-Stat Group. Will it deliver on its promise? Hyers' answer is "not what Verizon wants to hear." Verizon Wireless Jan. 28 rolled out its 1XRTT-based 'Express Network' along the nation's East Coast, making it the first U.S. carrier to offer 3G service to its subscribers....
