Year's failed gadgets likely to be retooled for 2002

SAN JOSE, Calif. (December 23, 2001 12:36 a.m. EST) - Portable digital audio players will shrink in size but hold more songs. Cell phones will double as handheld computers. Televisions will be bigger, sharper - and cheaper. These are some of the new - well, really just mostly improved - consumer electronic gadgets that will debut in 2002, a year that also promises some modest strides toward the wirelessly connected world that was promised over a year ago....
