Analysts say that with the faltering economy and the war against terrorism occupying Washington's attention, it is unlikely the government will help fuel the spread of broadband. The recent cutoff of hundreds of thousands of high-speed cable Internet subscribers by Excite@Home and the high price of broadband in the weak economy has some asking whether the dream of high-speed Internet access for the masses has been derailed....
