Senators see future of high-tech security in biometrics demonstration

WASHINGTON (November 14, 2001 6:03 p.m. EST) - The alarm sounded an instant after the camera scanned Ali Kato's face. She had been caught by a computer search of electronic mug shots. No one moved in the crowded room, which included two U.S. senators. The incident was only a test, done by Lau Technologies of Littleton, Mass., at the invitation of the senators. Kato, 22, is no terrorist, just a Los Angeles resident who is an intern for Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif....
