Sun Microsystems' crafty CEO and chief scientist, Bill Joy, has been telling us since we started this magazine that PCs are generally boring and unfriendly. Of course, he and the company he cofounded have never liked Microsoft, so we always kept that under consideration. More recently, however, we couldn't even get Roger McNamee of Integral Capital Partners to talk about the PC market. "The PC business is mature with a capital M," he moaned. "It's the automobile industry of the new millennium."...
