Americans Who Go Online Do So at the Expense of Television Time, Study Finds

Many American households are turning to the Internet as a source for information. In doing so, they might be turning away from television, suggests a study being released today by the University of California at Los Angeles. "The UCLA Internet Report 2001: Surveying the Digital Future" surveys users of the Internet, and those who are not online, to examine how the technology is shaping -- and is shaped by -- American life. "The goal is to do the study that we think should have been done of television," says Kenneth I. Cole, head of the survey and director of the university's Center for Communications Policy....
