Microsoft's new operating system is physically big, requiring two gigabytes of hard-drive space and more than an hour to install. It's big in scope, too: XP is Microsoft's attempt to merge its home line (the friendly but cranky Windows 95, 98 and Me) with its corporate line (the unattractive but rock-solid Windows NT and 2000) into a unified operating system that offers the best of both....
