Buckyball Success May Lead the Way to Practical New Superconductors

The buckyball molecule is made of 60 carbon atoms arranged in the shape of a geodesic dome. In a surprise to many, molecules of carbon in the shape of soccer balls have been turned into superconductors that can carry electricity with virtually no resistance at temperatures higher than even many of the so-called high-temperature superconductors....
