Microsoft changing licensing pacts

SEATTLE (July 11, 2001 3:42 p.m. EDT) - Microsoft Corp., responding to a recent court ruling that said its competitive practices broke the law, will change its licensing agreements with computer manufacturers and allow them to remove icons - including those of Microsoft products - from the desktop of computers using the Windows operating system. The company announced Wednesday that personal computer manufacturers will be able to add those of other technology companies, such as RealNetworks Inc. or AOL Time Warner Inc....
