http://www.dailycal.org/article.asp?id=5709&ref=news Wireless Internet Network Pilot Program Set to Debut This Fall by JONATHAN CHANG Contributing Writer Tuesday June 26, 2001 Starting this fall, UC Berkeley students, faculty and staff will be able to logon to the Internet through a campuswide wireless network. The pilot program, which will begin with a cost assessment in September, will allow users to access the Internet through their own laptop computers and wireless devices. "If everything goes well, we'll have a (complete) wireless network in about a year," said Clifford Frost, UC Berkeley's Director of Communications and Network Services. "We should have a good idea of costs and what it takes to roll it out, and then it's an issue of whether or not the campus can afford it." ....
