A software titan seeks an institute

Software mogul Larry Ellison is offering Harvard a chance at the biggest donation in its history - but the university may have to fight for it.

The billionaire CEO of Oracle Corp. is putting up $150 million to create an institute to study the effects of technology on politics and economics. But instead of cultivating a relationship with a particular school, Ellison has made the offer to both Harvard and Stanford universities - playing the academic titans off each other while he waits for them to make their best offers.....
