A 1999 inventory revealed that there were over 40 species of native prairie forbs and grasses present on the UIS prairie site. As a graduate project for the Environmental Studies Program, I proposed to increase the number of native species by acquiring seed, growing seedlings, and planting these seedlings on the site. This biodiversity project took place from the time I ordered the seed in January 2000 throughout the summer after planting the germinated seedlings. This web page describes the steps taken to achieve my project goals.
